Terms of use

Last updated October 11, 2026. NoteComet is run by VGJ LLC (“we”).

What NoteComet is

NoteComet shows the notes of a piece of music falling onto a piano keyboard, so you can learn to play it. You add the music yourself: a MusicXML or MIDI file, or a photo or PDF of sheet music that NoteComet reads for you.

Your music

Free pieces

The free library holds music that is in the public domain or shared by its editors under an open licence; each piece names its source and licence. Anyone may play it, with or without an account. If you believe a piece shouldn't be there, write to [email protected] and we will take it down while we look into it.

Reading photos and PDFs

Reading sheet music is done by software and is not perfect. Check what it read, and use the review screen to fix anything it got wrong. A read that fails doesn't count against your monthly reads.

Plans and payment

Fair use

Don't try to break, overload or get around the limits of NoteComet, access other people's accounts, or use it to store things that aren't music. We may suspend accounts that do.

No warranty

NoteComet is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and your library safe (it is backed up every night), but we can't promise it will always be available or error-free. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Changes

We may update these terms. If a change matters, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect. Questions: [email protected].
