The short version: we keep what NoteComet needs to work, we don't sell or share it, and your sheet music never leaves our own server to be read.

What we keep

• Your email address, to sign you in and to send sign-in codes and important account messages. No newsletters unless you ask.
• Your library: the scores you import, the notes NoteComet made from them, your settings for each piece, and, for pieces read from photos or PDFs, cleaned-up page images for the review screen.
• The original photos and PDFs only until they have been read. They are then deleted, because photos can carry details such as where they were taken.
• Your plan: whether you have Pro, until when, and how many reads you've used this month.
• A sign-in cookie, so you stay signed in. It is the only cookie NoteComet sets.

Playing free pieces without an account

Your settings for a free piece (speed, hands, loop) are kept on your device only. We keep nothing about you, apart from the visit statistics below.

Who else is involved

• Reading sheet music happens on our own server. Your photos and PDFs are not sent to any outside service, and are never used to train anything.
• Stripe handles payments. Your card details go to Stripe, never to us; we keep only Stripe's customer reference and your subscription status. See Stripe's privacy policy.
• Cloudflare carries traffic to our server and protects it from attacks.
• Our email provider delivers the sign-in emails.
• Visit statistics (which pages are used, from what kind of device) are counted by our own self-hosted analytics, without cookies or advertising trackers.

We don't sell your information, show ads, or share your library with anyone.

Where it lives and how long

• NoteComet runs on our own servers in the United States, and is backed up every night. Backups are kept for 14 days.
• Your data stays until you delete it. Deleting a piece removes it straight away.
• Deleting your account (Account → Delete account) removes your library and settings straight away and cancels Pro. Copies in backups are gone within 14 days. Stripe keeps payment records it is legally required to keep.

Your choices

• Download everything from Account → Download my data: every piece, its score and settings, in one zip file.
• Ask us what we hold about you, or to correct or delete it, at [email protected].

Children

NoteComet accounts are for adults. Children can use NoteComet through a parent's or guardian's account. We don't knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you think a child has created an account, write to us and we will delete it.

Changes

If we change how we handle your information in a way that matters, we will tell you by email or in the app first.
